More about
my process

Jewelry workshop with workbenches, tools, colorful bead storage, a fire extinguisher, a chair, and ventilation hoods.

My artistic practice transforms glass and metal through meticulous technique and artistic vision.

Lampworking: Shaping Glass with Fire

The core of many pieces begins with lampworking. I manipulate glass rods within a torch flame, carefully sculpting, twisting, and forming the molten material. This process demands complete focus and a deep understanding of glass dynamics, allowing me to capture intricate forms and encapsulate elements.

Metalworking: Structure and Detail

Metalworking introduces structural elegance and fine detail.

* Wire Weaving: I carefully interweave fine metal strands, often 28-gauge wire, to construct complex patterns and textures. Each deliberate placement builds a robust yet delicate framework that complements the glass components.

* Forging and Shaping: Through forging, I transform raw metal. This process, using hammer and anvil, allows me to shape and refine the material, imparting strength and deliberate contours to create distinct sculptural elements.

* Soldering: When components require a permanent bond, I use focused heat from a jewelry torch to join pieces seamlessly.

Assembly: Harmonizing Elements

The final stage is assembly, where each glass and metal component is meticulously brought together. This critical phase ensures balance, proportion, and structural integrity, culminating in a harmonious piece that showcases the interplay of textures, colors, and forms.

My creations are deeply inspired by the intricacies and unexpected beauty found in the natural world. Each piece is an exploration of organic forms and a testament to the dedication involved in transforming raw materials into finely detailed art, reflecting both skilled craftsmanship and an artistic drive.
